Train Whistles
Ever since the Great Depression the sound of a train whistle away in the distance has been romanticized, particularly in song. Woodie Guthrie, who rode the rails , Johnny Cash hearing it from a prison cell and every train song ever sung has the train whistle as the instrument of choice.

I was looking for a place to feature my carved heads and came up with the idea of carving them on top of a train whistle. Lotsa railway people to carve. Station Masters, Engineers and hobos spring to mind. I'm a fair carver but a hopeless woodworker and making the basic whistle takes a fair amount of skill, especially setting up the reeds (the whistle is a reed instrument.)
If I could find someone to make the whistles I would be in seventh Heaven carving the head on them.
